Simola Hillclimb

Simola is proud of its association with this quintessential South African motor sporting event. The thrilling four-day Knysna Speed Festival and Simola Hillclimb showcases a brilliant array of road- and race cars, driven by some of the most respected names in motor sport.

The Simola Hill presents a flowing, 1,9km track ideally suited to hill racing, and the action on our track starts with Classic Car Friday when spectacular cars from pre-war to 1985 take to the hill. Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Austin Healey, Cooper, Ginetta, Lola, Marcos and Shelby have all made appearances at the Hillclimb. Spectators are invited to view the cars and meet their drivers at the Car Display in town on the Thursday morning before Classic Car Friday, after which these gracious automobiles parade down Waterfront Drive.

The King of the Hill entrants’ Car Display takes place on the Friday morning, and the on-track action starts on the Saturday, concluding the festival on the Sunday. Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Lamborghini, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, Nissan and Shelby have all raced the hill, with Jaguar joining the fray. The unveiling of the title sponsor’s latest models always thrills the crowds as some of SA’s leading drivers put them through their paces.

Prior to the action of the Hillclimb, the festival tees off on the Thursday with the Simola Golf Day. Proceeds of the Knysna Speed Festival are handed to charities and, to date, more than R518 000 has been donated to those who need them the most.
